Geisinger, Siemens Ink 10-year digital health partnership

• Siemens Healthineers announced on Monday that it will offer the Geisinger healthcare system a decade-long partnership with innovative diagnostic and intelligence programs.

• Siemens said the two organizations are looking to build a decade-long relationship by providing digital health tools to the integrated healthcare provider based in Danville, Pa. According to MedTech, the new partnership with Geisinger is one of the largest of its kind in North America.

• A Siemens spokesperson told MedTech Dive that the financial terms of the Geisinger relationship will not be disclosed. However, as part of the values-based nursing agreement, organizations will “collectively define which initiatives to work on” and metrics such as cost and quality will determine how each initiative is defined. “

The partnership between Siemens and Geisinger is just one of the latest examples of pharmaceutical technology and service providers joining to use pharmaceutical and healthcare technology.

Even before the coronavirus pandemic rocked the healthcare industry, providers had to constantly improve medical technologies, optimize existing processes, and use digital healthcare tools to meet the growing demand for better patient care.

Siemens believes that the Value Partnership program should help providers optimize their processes and capabilities and increase the level of innovation in their healthcare organizations. Over the next ten years, Siemens plans to provide Geisinger employees and resources on-site to support physician workflows and data-driven decisions.

For the technology itself, Medizintechnik Geisinger will provide a range of diagnostic imaging devices for MRT, CT, PET, X-ray, cradle, and ultrasound, as well as cloud-based and artificial intelligence-based management technologies. These include:

• AI-Rad Companion – A family of vendor-independent, multi-organ, advanced reading solutions that automatically prepare clinical data for radiologists to interpret.

• Syngo Virtual Cockpit: remote scanning support software to improve access to care and increase employee productivity

• Team Play – A cloud-based service performance management application used to bring together healthcare professionals and provide a clear overview of performance data.”What we’re most excited about is harnessing the promise and future capabilities of artificial intelligence to respond to a rapidly changing healthcare environment,” said David Pacitti, president, and CEO, America, Siemens Healthineers, in an email Address. MedTech Dive.

Geisinger, which includes 13 hospitals and 600,000 human health plans, is a healthcare system providing 1.5 million clients in Pennsylvania and New Jersey with a history of partnerships and innovative technologies. It was recently named one of the most innovative healthcare systems in the United States, according to a survey of 550+ leading healthcare providers.

As part of the Geisinger and Home program, the health care system is expanding its use of technology through patient monitoring, telemedicine, and depression management through the development of a long-term law firm.

MyCode combines data from the EHR by using genetics to prevent or detect early detection of cancer and cardiovascular diseases in patients at high risk for these diseases.

In September Geisinger announced a multi-year partnership with precision medicine company Tempus to use artificial intelligence to develop diagnostic and prognostic tools for cardiovascular diseases. Both organizations are trying to use machine learning to predict life-threatening cardiac events so doctors can take action before it’s too late.

The patient scenarios Geisinger would like to predict include the question of which patients will be hospitalized or readmitted in the short term (30 days to six months), as well as the ability to predict a heart attack in the next five years.
